group projects.

I'm about to throw myself a little pity party here.

Who here likes group projects??

Not this girl.
library misery. it happens.
Somehow, it always ends up that I am the administrator, enabler, and main go-to girl when it comes to group projects. The funny thing about it is, I can complain to my friends how much I don't want to do the project, how much my group stinks, etc. etc, but I still step up and take the initiative to get started. I don't know what it is! I guess it's just the go-getter perfectionist side of me that thinks "Well, I guess if we're going to do it, we may as well do it the right way... which is the way I want to do it!"

Yes, I know. It's bad. I need to work on my trust and delegation skills when it comes to academics. But seriously!!! I vented on Twitter but I just had to see if anyone else is in the same boat ever? What do you do to "let go"!?

On a happier note... my day was made better by this giveaway at Coffee at Nordstrom! Monograms... yes please!

Tuesday Tunesday- Dave Barnes CHRISTMAS!

Hello friends! Sorry my "Tuesday Tunesday" is so late in the day... I'm in my second to last week before exams and I have countless papers and presentations before I can even THINK about exam week! AHHH! So, that being said, posts may be few and far between until exams are over, just a heads up!

So, now that we're past Thanksgiving, we can officially start listening to Christmas tunes and not feel bad about skipping a holiday! I'm a big fan of singer Dave Barnes, and I love this little contemporary Christmas duet he does!

I'm a big fan of the video, too! Jennifer Love Hewitt is super cute and I love their cute back and forth interactions. The house? Precious. Anyway, I just love Dave Barnes on the guitar, and his voice is so soothing. Listen to his whole Christmas album!

Also, he has a sense of humor. This is hilarious. Thank you Dave Barnes, for being beautiful, talented, funny, and just overall entertaining. The baby cracks me up-- (3:40). Check out all his "Christmas Extravagan za" videos!

Tuesday Tunesday- Ingrid Michaelson

You'll have to excuse my blogging absence for the past few days- I spent the weekend visiting with Andy and celebrating our anniversary with a day trip to Asheville and had to do a lot of work... which never ends! I'm looking forward to blogging more this break!

I almost forgot that it was "Tuesday Tunesday"!!

Today I chose "You and I" by Ingrid Michaelson. (By the way, I didn't insert the video because the only ones they had were just badly made ones with the lyrics scrolling). I have never really been an Ingrid fan until I heard this song, but I love her voice and definitely admire her vocal range. The lyrics are cute and light hearted, but I will say I think they guy's verse sort of ruins the song. I like the fact that they do a guy/girl duet, but I think she could have picked a better male voice- Michael Buble, maybe?! Check it out for yourself!

Also: Check out this GIVEAWAY for SHOES (too good to be true?!) from M loves M!

the best 4 years of my life.

Happy Anniversary, ACM!!!

I'm a day late, but I just wanted to give a special shout out to my favorite guy in the whole world! Yesterday marks four years with my best friend, ACM! No break ups between, no fights, no problems. We are literally perfect for each other. I have no idea what I would do with a sweet guy like him around to encourage, love, and care for me whenever I need him! He is going abroad next semester (prepare for some sad, sappy posts in the near future!), and I will miss him terribly, but I am so excited for him to come back as we spend our last summer in college together!

just a little photobooth lovin'!

He makes me smile :)

Summer outing to a Braves game!

Andy is ZTA's number one fan!

We just look like we know what we're doing ;)

Cute, smart, AND silly!

This weekend we are roadtripping up to Asheville to celebrate, so another post on that to come! I love you, ACM!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Charlotte!

Just wanted to give a shout out to my ZTA sista, role model, twin, and fellow blogger, Charlotte! She is celebrating her 23rd birthday today up in Illinois at her new big-girl job!

Charlotte- I love you SO much and cannot even tell you how much you mean to me! You are smart, fun, beautiful, and so passionate about everything you do! I can only hope I will be just like you in a few years :)
Love, "Mini Me" :)

Just some ZTA lovin' during recruitment last year!
Greek Awards! We are the same person, but seriously.
Love you Char! Hope your day is as fabulous as you are!!!

Tuesday Tunesday- The Features

Happy Tunesday, ya'll!

I found this song while looking at wedding videos on Vimeo with my friend Martha... when I should have been studying for my finance test. Whoops. Call me crazy, but looking at those cute videos and engagement photos is one of my favorite things to do... I love weddings! This song was featured on one of my favorites- "The Idea of Growing Old" by The Features:

Now, I had never heard of The Features before, but I love their sound! IN fact- I just made a Pandora station for them! They kind of remind me of the Arctic Monkeys, maybe? I just like the quirky rock/pop sound they have! The lyrics are also really cute, sweet, and simple. Hope your week is off to a great start!

ryann's Weekly Gratitude

I snagged this idea from "Loving Life and Lilly" and thought it was perfect for this time of year:

Here's some "Weekly Gratitude" and what I'm thankful for this week:
  1. With Veteran's Day last Friday and attending the GOP presidential debate yesterday (a post on that soon!), I have realized how thankful I am to be an American and live in a country where I have the freedom to, among many other things, vote for my leaders.
  2. I am thankful for a relatively easy week for schoolwork- only a test tomorrow! A break is much needed.
  3. I am thankful for autumn weather- I love the change in seasons.
  4. I am thankful for my sweet boyfriend, with whom I will celebrate four years with this week! So crazy!
  5. I am thankful for finally finding a church that I really like here at school. Something I've been searching for for a loooong time!
With Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, 'tis the season!

Let's get political!

Who has two thumbs and a ticket to the Republican presidential debate tomorrow?

THIS GIRL!

Wofford College is fortunate enough to be the host of a CBS Republican presidential debate tomorrow! Yes, little ol Wofford! Campus is in a frenzy with media trucks, protestors, Secret Service (seriously!) and people setting up to transform our basketball arena into the center stage for the debate! This morning they broadcasted the CBS "Early Show" from behind Old Main, our main building on campus. It was so cool to see! Despite the fact many parts of campus are off limits, it's really cool to be in the middle of it!

Yes, I took a picture of my TV. Jan's hanging out outside the building I take most of my classes!
I'll admit. I'm not crazy about politics. I would identify myself as a Republican, but I'm not that into a certain candidate at this point. Once time goes on and more final decisions are made, I will be more able to identify with one particular candidate and do more research.

But, seriously, I am SO excited to get a ticket to attend the debate! Not only is this an amazing opportunity to see people speak who may potentially serve as president next term, but to do it at my own college, for free!? Awesome. Tickets were definitely hard to come by, but they created a lottery for students and staff to enter in order to get one.  Guess what... I didn't get one.

Confused?! Well, I posted a disgruntled status on Facebook about not getting one, and a sweet freshman boy who was in my Orientation Staff group messaged me and told me that he received a ticket, but would be gone for his fraternity's mountain weekend and offered me his for free! How sweet! Chivalry is not dead, ladies and gentlemen.

I'll fill you in more after this weekend! I am volunteering with the Newt campaign because my mom has connections with women who are working for him, so I thought I'd try to get involved even though, as I said, I have made no certain decisions on who I am going to support.

So excited to get political this weekend and show America what a great place Wofford is! On that note- Happy Veterans Day! I can't think of a better way to thank those who served us and gave us these opportunities!

Where Kim K went wrong.

I saw this video on a friend's blog (thanks, Abby!) and wanted to share. I'm in a Bible study reading "Reason for God" by Timothy Keller right now (which I LOVE... read it if you haven't...), so I was particularly interested in what he had to say in this clip.

I am truly saddened by what happened with Kim and Kris' marriage on many levels. I would never mock them, because I would never wish unhappy marriage or divorce upon anyone, so I am sad for them. But I am also sad that today's culture focuses on the aesthetics of marriage rather than the heart and soul of the matter. I'll admit, I'm in love with engagement photo shoots, beautiful white dresses, and picking out flowers, but it is so much more than that.

Check out the video and see for yourself if you'd like!

Typographer Ryan Gosling

I stumbled upon this hilarious Tumblr account and just had to share. It's called Typographer Ryan Gosling and it just struck me as silly. Now, I'm not all into typography and graphic design (...yet!!), but I could totally appreciate this one, as it's English related. Ohhh, MLA. Browse through them, and even if you don't "get" the lingo, I promise you'll get a chuckle or two!

Beauty Peace Month Challenge

Wofford has a program called "Success Initiative" where students are required to create projects that help the community and create awareness each semester, and an especially good one occurs this month! A Wofford student is sponsoring the Beauty Peace Month Challenge- challenging female groups on campus to go at least one day during the month without wearing any make up!

natural beauty!
It's pretty easy, go fresh faced throughout the day, wear a plain white shirt to identify with your group, and snap a photo! The ZTAs participated in this challenge today, and I am so incredibly proud of our turn out! All these girls accepted the challenge, and ZTA is the largest participating group on campus so far with 36+ girls! (Not all pictured!)

What a cool way to emphasize the importance of natural beauty! My friends are just so darn pretty inside and out! (PS- that's me in the turquoise tennies on the front row!)

Have you ever heard of anything like this before?! You should participate.. it's definitely a great feeling and a wonderful change of pace to be fresh-faced!

Tuesday Tunesday- Ray LaMontagne

I'm excited to share with you guys my second "Tuesday Tunesday" post! I am currently obsessed with THIS song by Ray LaMontagne- "You are the Best Thing". I have literally been playing it over and over and over. I did yoga on Thursday and the instructor played it and I instantly fell in love. I had never heard of Ray LaMontagne before, but I remembered the lyrics so I could go look up the song as soon as I was done! I'm not sure if it's his slightly raspy voice, the sweet words, or the old fashioned feel to the song... but this is currently my favorite song! It's one of those tones I could totally see myself dancing to at my wedding or something like that.

I'm trying to decide what artist this reminds me of. It's been killing me. But it's got such a classic sound, with the horns and the back up singers... you know what I mean?! Can anyone help me out?

I have yet to really look up any other of Ray LaMontagne's music, but I'm going to go make a Grooveshark playlist now! What are your thoughts? Any other music I should make sure to listen to this week?!

Weekend reunion!

I had the most wonderful weekend! I have two best friends and fellow bloggers (I'm not going to include their links, I'm pretty sure they would kill me!) from high school that I still keep in touch with. You can read about the Trio in my "Who I Love" section! Anyways, Natalie and I went to go visit Parkes at USC for a reunion, and it was just what the doctor ordered. Sometimes you just have to get away, ya know? It was so great to see the girls, and a really cool experience because Parkes lives in her sorority's house on campus, which we stayed in. Wofford sororities don't have houses so it was a totally different experience!

My beautiful, blonde best friends Natalie & Parkes!
Just being silly :)
See, we can be serious!
We just hung out and caught up on life. This was an extra special weekend for the Trio because Parkes recently started dating a guy and we were able to meet him! We all went out to eat together: The Trio, Parkes' boyfriend Zack, Parkes' roommate Frances, and Zack's little brother in his fraternity. We had a great time and there were lots of laughs- quite an entertaining group! After dinner we got yogurt and went to hang out at Zack's apartment and I met some other nice girls and guys from USC.

The girls! Wofford, Clemson, and USC represent!!
Parkes and Zack. Promise they took this pic on purpose. :)
The next day the Trio caught up with another friend from high school, Eleasa over some Moe's. I was so excited because on my way back to school I got to visit my friend Cameron whom I hadn't seen in forever! She was a senior at Wofford when I was a freshman but we became best of friends! I was in her wedding this summer but I haven't seen much of her since she moved to Columbia and is busy being a wife and working girl!

Once I got home, I was able to eat dinner with Andrew at a new(-ish) place in town called Cribb's Kitchen... best sweet potato fries.. YUM.

Today I was busy helping with ZTA initiation and doing lots of homework,so it's back to reality! Workin' for the weekend once again. Hope you all had as great a weekend as I did!

Inaugural Tuesday Tunesday!- Biebz Christmas

In an effort to try to be more blog savvy, I'm going to start some weekly things to blog about! I love music, and my taste varies a lot. That being said, I am happy to announce, Tuesdays will be dubbed "Tuesday Tunesday"! I'll talk a little about a band or a song that I particularly like at the moment and maybe feature a little snippet or two!

Anyone who reads this blog and really knows me, knows my love of obsession with Justin Bieber (fondly known as Biebz). Though I am in college, I am not ashamed. I'm sure you'll hear more about it at some point. Anyway, with that being said, I am super excited to feature Biebz' first Christmas album (which dropped today!) as my first Tuesday Tunesday!

You can't tell me he doesn't look darn cute here.
I will admit, I haven't purchased the CD yet, but I am going to Wal-Mart after class today to go get it. Yes, I am serious. I'm not going to just buy it on iTunes... I want a legit CD. I've sampled a few of the songs, and the title track "Under the Mistletoe" is my favorite so far. It's the quintessential cute pop Christmas love song. Even though Biebz interjects a "shawty" every once and a while, I love the laid back tune and his great harmonization.. he's come a long way since "One Time". Another highlight is his duet with Mariah Carey on her hit "All I Want for Christmas is You"... how can you NOT be in the Christmas spirit?! Talk about a combo. Also featuring songs with the Band Perry, Boyz II Men (hehe), and a crazy rap version of "Drummer Boy" with Busta Rhymes, the album seems pretty diverse.

Hate if you want, but I'm looking foward to getting into the Christmas spirit with some J Biebz this year!

Any other readers with a Bieber guilty pleasure? Any other Christmas favorites I should check out?
