Christmas recap via Instagram!

I apologize for my absence! Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and spent lots of quality time with their family and friends! I just wanted to share with you all some of the goodies I got via Instagram!

A guide book and some travel money for my upcoming trip! This card is like a debit card, but is converted to the currency of whatever country you are using it in! I will blog about my trip soon!

This was a big surprise for me! Mom is in love with her Kindle, but I've always loved the feel of the pages of a book. However, I'm excited to use my Kindle Touch while traveling and I am currently hunting for a cute case!

This is my Christmas steal. This is an awesome flannel-lined Lands End coat that I am obsessed with. Mom got it major on sale, for probably $35! But it looks a lot like the Barbour jackets lots of girls wear that run as much as $300!

Check out this sassy J Crew iPhone cover! I have a few cases I rotate between, but this is by far my favorite :)

Andrew's mom is an amazing cook and baker, and she gave me some fun kitchen tools! I don't have a kitchen at school since I am still in a dorm, but all these fun things will be utilized in my apartment next year and at home!
Andrew gave my the Hunger Games Trilogy, among a few other things! I started the first one last night and am so pumped to keep reading! I have to keep reminding myself to be productive, even though all I want to do is cuddle up with cocoa and lose myself in these pages!

I'm super excited about my new luggage! Hartman luggage was 50% at the mall, and since Hartman is so expensive normally I couldn't pass it up! I got two pieces that are classic and will hopefully last me many, many years!

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and is gearing up for a fun New Year's celebration! What were some of your favorite gifts?!

PS- a big "hello" to my new followers! I promise one of these days I will get around to browsing, following, and commenting on your blogs! I'm so grateful and want to thank you for stopping by!

Merry Christmas to All!

If any of you are like me, you're still struggling to think of (and actually make it out to buy) a Christmas present for your cousin, to make sure you get an even amount of gifts for mom and dad, and clean up the house for company while putting the final touches on the tree (yes, it's been that busy...). But, nonetheless, it's Christmas Eve and a beautiful day! These past few days have been a little toasty for the season for me in the Upstate of SC, but today is chilly, just as it should be! Tonight the college kids of my church facilitate the 11pm Christmas Eve service, and I am excited to see my old youth group friends and do the Giving and Receiving of Light- what a special and touching part of the service.

Since I don't have much time to blog, I wanted to share with you all some pictures I have yet to post of my holiday fun!

Some of my best guy friends at school asked me to take the picture for their apartment Christmas card, which was pretty hilarious. They did it exactly like the ones you get in the mail that gives you the low-down on every member of the family- so silly. I was flattered they asked me, but of course I had to get in on the action for a few pictures, and as you can see, goof around with them. They decided to use the picture in the middle for their Christmas card, and dubbed me the "220C Sweetheart" in the caption.. oh, boys.

This collage is of a few things. I attended the Theta roller skating function with my friend Martha (who is in the far right picture!), and the theme was "Tacky Christmas"! A whole bunch of our ZTA freshmen were there, so I snapped a picture with them! I went to the RUF Christmas party, and the middle picture is of our pastor's wife and their new baby, Cate! How beautiful is she? To the far right is Martha and I with the RUF minister. He is great and we are obsessed with him. Looking forward to sharing with you all about my family gatherings, the gifts I gave and received, and all the fun I had- I can't wait to hear the same from ya'll!

It is so easy to forget how blessed we are, and this time of year is a great way to remember. Even if I get stressed out with all the holiday rush, a little frustrated with my parents, or the like, I am still lucky. I pray that you cherish your time with your family, give thanks for all you have, and remember the reason for the season! I surely will. Merry Christmas to all!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm so excited to link up for the first time with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Here's what I'm loving today and this week!

~ I'm loving my sweet, thoughtful boyfriend! He will be studying abroad next semester, but he bought me an early Valentine's Day present- we will be going to Atlanta to see Foster the People in June! We love going to concerts so this will be so much fun, and I'm a huge FTP fan! Check out their album Torches. "Pumped Up Kicks" is a popular song, but their whole album is amazing!

~ I'm loving giveaways! I legit never win anything, but I have won two in the past few days! Many thanks to Coffee at Nordstrom and Everyday AEM, I'll be receive a cute necklace from Shabby Apple and a sporty baseball cap from Port Southern!

via

~ I'm loving DayQuil! I'm NOT loving that I'm sick with a runny nose and congestion, but I'd rather feel yucky at home then while at school studying for exams!

~I'm loving my grades! They were posted yesterday and I was so excited! I didn't get a 4.0 because of a B in Business Finance, but if that's my only issue, at least I'm done with it and can do well from here on out! With all A's other than that, I definitely picked the right major!

~I'm loving that Christmas is a few days away! It snuck up on me so fast, but I'm finally getting around to knocking out my shopping, attending holiday parties with my friends from home, and getting into the spirit!
What are you loving this week?!

Tuesday Tunesday- Michael Bublé & a few thank yous!

Excuse my blog absence! I have had to do all my shopping now that I'm free from school work, as well as helping around the house and catching up with friends! I realized that I forgot to do a "Tuesday Tunesday" last week during exams, so I apologize! Here's my pick for this week!

Any of my friends or family could tell you that I am SO picky about my Christmas music. I hate a bad cover of a great Christmas song. Also, I really dislike certain Christmas songs. For example: "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"... dumb. I would be traumatized! Also, though I do like it, "Santa Baby" is one of the silliest Christmas songs. It's totally against the reason for the season!

Okay, enough of my ranting. My pick for Tuesday Tunesday this week is Michael Bublé's cover of "All I Want for Christmas is You". This may be one of my favorite Christmas songs. Period.  I love Mariah's original version... (aaaaaand the new version with Bieber in it... don't judge) but I am obsessed with Michael's rendition. This one is smooth, slow, sweet, and soulful. I am a big fan of MB's Christmas tunes, because I love the old Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra music. Check out the whole Christmas album and make it the soundtrack to your holiday parties!

Also....

A BIG thank you to Lacey for her Shabby Apple giveaway! I legit never win anything, but won THIS gorgeous necklace! Hop on over to her fabulous blog and tell her hi!

I received a blog award from The Merry Mrs. Mobley! I will share my picks for the Versatile Blogger within the next few days once I have a little more time! :) Thank you, Lauren!

My week via Instagram- Exam Week!

So, amidst exam madness, I found a new obsession... Instagram. I've had it on my phone for a while but never really used it. That all changed this week. I love taking photographs on my fancy cam but Instagram is a great way to get fun, artsy pictures straight from your iPhone!

My Week via Instagram!
so. much. stuff.
A backpack plus this bag of novels. Life of an English major
Tried my first cakepop... YUM.
So studious, Martha.
This cracked me up. Just in case you were wondering, this dude is rolling on 24s.
The library had fortune cookies with Wofford-related fortunes... this one was pretty relevant since Martha and I lived in the "Sandbox" for basically six days straight!
Took a dinner break downtown- Denny's Corporate looking festive!

So, I'm finally back home! I actually had a great week despite all my studying! Strangely enough, I made lots of new friends in my days spent in the library... so typical of me, being social when I'm not supposed to. No more papers for me until February! More on that later ;)

The light at the end of the tunnel...

So sorry I have been M.I.A- I blame exam week!

I am heading to my last in-class exam in one hour, sticking around to finish a take-home exam in the library, then packing up, cleaning my room, and heading HOME! I will have to finish a research paper while at home, but that's no big deal!

So, I just wanted to check in and let you know I'm still kicking! I've missed blogging a lot, but I will make up for lost time starting this weekend! :)

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support on my last post! I think your positive vibes (and basically six days straight in the library!) have helped!

EXAM WEEK- Survival & Inspiration!

It is the Saturday before EXAM WEEK begins and I am camped out in the library in my new favorite spot! I also spent all afternoon and night here (with a short break for dinner!) and have been here since after breakfast this morning. I am taking a study break and heading to the RUF white elephant Christmas party this evening, but most likely I will be back in action afterward, and once again tomorrow after church! AHHH!

Currently I am waiting for an e-mail response from a professor, and I kind of need her input before I can really get going on a paper, so I of course am attempting to do everything BUT work! I know that lots of my blog friends have finished their exam week, but Wofford is on a delayed schedule so ours starts Monday! Here's how I survive exam week!

The Library Uniform:

The Study Tunes:
Pandora is my best friend during exam week. I just wish I had Pandora One so I could avoid all the ads! The stations I switch between include: Needtobreathe, Phoenix, John Mayer, Boyce Avenue, Foster the People, Maroon 5, and Gavin Degraw. I like chill music, but some fun upbeat tunes are never a bad thing when I'm feeling the library drag. A guy friend of mine is currently blasting Wiz Khalifa through his headphones.. no thanks! I need something more peaceful!

The Study Snacks:
I try my best not to snack while I study... that's a disaster waiting to happen. If I'm not going to eat anytime soon (I don't want to spoil my appetite) I'll grab a hot coffee as a little treat. No matter what, I always have a bottle of water, and sometimes a soda.. today it's Sprite Zero. Today I needed a snack because Martha and I went out to breakfast and had a bagel late in the morning before hitting the library. In that case, I got some yogurt pretzels to munch on! I try to avoid candy, but sometimes I give in to the red and blue gummy worms or Sour Patch Kids... yum :)

The Study Spot:
I used to never study in the library, not until about two weeks ago. I get along so well with my roommate and suitemate, which is actually a problem. I don't ever get anything done in there! I live on campus, so it's easy to head over to the library. Our library is pretty old (and most of it is pretty ugly... think 70's architecture...), but they redid one portion called "The Sandbox" (Why? I don't know). It's a pretty sweet set up with tables with rolly chairs, screens you can hook your laptop up to, comfy chairs, and outlets and internet plugs galore! I've found my new happy place.

So, as most of my friends are completing their exams, I am just beginning mine. Oh well. I'm stressed, but everything will get done-it always does- and I will just do the best I can!

Here's a little positivity and inspiration for you student bloggers right there with me:

And something silly to make you giggle!

If you're in the midst of exam week... you MUST READ THIS! "Love Letter to a College Student". You will feel so much better afterward! Promise :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Thoughts and prayers are much appreciated!

New blog stuff!

I'm so excited because I've finally gotten around to really jazzing up my blog! I worked on my "pages" (above!) and I'm really happy with how they turned out. I have finally done my { about me }, and I decided to give a little background behind my blog on the { about my blog } page to share with you what's behind the name and what it means to me. Hopefully these pages will help you learn a little more about me, too!

Also, I'm probably a little to excited about the signature I made. I'm so proud of myself... I'm not that  good with photo editing software, but I found a great site that's a simplified version of Photoshop on the web you don't have to pay for! I loved messing around and trying to create something cute and simple. You know how sometimes when you stare at your name for so long that it looks weird? Yeah, that happened. Procrastination from exam week at its finest. Hope you all enjoy!

PS- Lots of fun giveaways! Check out this lingerie travel bag from Everyday AEM, a goody bag from Carolina on my Mind, jewelry from Lacey in the City, and these cute stationary notepads from Coffee at Nordstrom!!

Guest Blogging!

I call this photo: "Miz in the lib".  Don't judge me for using phootbooth in public places.
Greetings bloggy friends, from my cozy nook in the library. Ahhhh... fast-approaching exam week, how I loathe you. I decided to take a quick study break and reward myself for my productivity by grabbing a treat- a yummy cinnamon roll latte- and writing a quick blog!

I have some fun news to share and a few questions for my readers!

I am very excited to have been asked to guest blog for some of my favorite daily reads- Coffee at Nordstrom and In the Life of Emily! Thank you so much for this opportunity, ladies... I am honored to have been asked and so excited to be featured! I will let everyone know when I will be on their blogs! I'm so excited... hopefully it will bring new blog friends!

So, my first question for you all: What should I blog about?! I feel like there's so much pressure when my name is on someone else's blog... I want to represent myself well and blog about something fun and interesting! Any suggestions are welcome!

With all this going on, I got to thinking... hmmm, I am going to be gone during the month of January traveling with school (a post on that when it comes closer to that time!), and I don't want my blog to be lonely or readers to quit stopping by... maybe I should get some guest bloggers! So here comes my second question... would anyone be interested in guest blogging for me while I am gone in January? I would need your posts by the end of December! Shoot me and email or leave a comment!

Have you ever guest-blogged before? Any suggestions or tips?
Thanks guys, happy Wednesday!

Tuesday Tunesday- Boyce Avenue

Happy Tunesday, ya'll!

Today I'm not necessarily sharing a song with you, but rather a musical group. Check out this video:

This is Boyce Avenue... a band of three brothers who do covers of all of today's popular songs. I would argue that these covers are BETTER than the originals. I like this recent one of Rihanna's new song, but I also love their cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream", Taio Cruz's "Dynamite", Rihanna's other hit, "Only Girl", The Script's "For the First Time", One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful"... the list goes on and on. I love the vocals and easy-going tone to the pop songs we know and love. Mmm... I am a sucker for the piano and acoustic guitar. Check them out on Pandora, iTunes, or YouTube!

weekend update!

Hello all! This has been an absolutely crazy weekend, and I apologize for not being a better blogger! I will be really busy with schoolwork because next week is my last week of class and the next week is exam week.... ahhhh!

Last night was ZTA's semi-formal and I had an absolute blast! This was Andrew's last ZTA function before he leaves to go abroad, so we had a great time dancing to the fun motown band that played! Though I don't have much time to blog, I thought I'd share some pictures!

Me, grandlittle Lauren (who is the tallest?!), little Lauren, my Big Allie!

My handsome date :)

I promise I'm normal.
hahaha I love my Grandlittle and Little. Almost as much as I love dresses with pockets.

Dress: Max & Cleo from Copper Penny boutique,
Shoes (not pictured): Nude pumps from Target- only $30!!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! xoxo!

dancing to an iPod in public.

I was perusing newfeeds on Facebook this morning, and I found this gem of a video. I am a sucker for a good YouTube video, and I saw a friend had this posted on her wall. I legitimately laughed out loud because I have always secretly wanted to do this. This awesome guy makes a scene dancing like no one is watching to "All I Want for Christmas is You"... but the thing is, everyone is watching. If you need a pick me up, this is it!!

I think the Christmas one is the best, but I also have to share with you... "Footloose" edition! That movie is one of my favorites (Why? I do not know.) so this struck me as funny.

This guy has his own website- silly, cute, a musician... anyone in the market?! Haha.

Happy Friday to you all! Hope your weekend is great! :)
