Stand Up and Get Krunk.

Okay, so I know the Top 5 Tuesday this week from Rachel was "Pump Up Songs", but I obviously don't have my life together and am wayyy behind. BUT I still wanted to share with you guys my running playlist, because I love seeing what others are listening to!

My Top Runnings/Workout Songs!
I've started going to the gym again, and I'm so proud of myself to actually be able to run on the treadmill for a significant amount of time! I have to cover up the monitor with my sweatshirt so I don't stare at it the whole time, and I measure my run through songs- I can run straight with no break through about 5 songs... that ranges anywhere from 2.3-2.6 miles, depending on how my shuffle works out. Today I'm going for 6 songs! I gotta hit that 5k mark soon. All of these come from my "Stand Up and Get Krunk!" playlist... yes, you can laugh.

"Somebody to Love" -Justin Bieber
Bieber is my guilty pleasure. I can't help it. Anyone who knows me knows it only takes a little Biebz to get me pumped for the day!

"Dynamite" -Taio Cruz
This is just one of those upbeat songs that makes me smile!

 "Give Me Everything" -Pitbull
This song makes me think of this summer, for some reason. When I'm at a lull in my run and get tired, this chorus just pumps me up a little bit!

"Jai Ho!" -The Pussycat Dolls
You can laugh. I'm not a PCD fan but this is from the movie Slumdog Millionaire and they have it on Just Dance for Wii... and now I am hooked.

"Moves Like Jagger" -Maroon 5
Oh my goodness, do I love Maroon 5. Correction, I love Adam Levine. Enough said.

"On To The Next One" -Jay-Z and Swizz Beats
This song plays on our basketball's team pump up playlist before games and it works for me, too!

What songs get you going when you hit the gym?! Please share, I love adding to my playlist!

100 Followers, Weekend Tunes, and Guest Blogging!

Hi friends! I'm going to apologize again for being a slacker lately. I've been busy writing for the paper, doing schoolwork, and trying to get things ready for ZTA Day this weekend (more details/pictures to come later!) but I wanted to check in before I hit the road for ZTA Day in a bit. I'm taking about a 3 hour drive to the middle of the state and will need some tunes to keep me occupied! I just wanted to share with you all some of the songs I'm currently loving thanks to some new Pandora stations!

Check them out! My music taste is pretty diverse, so hopefully you'll discover at least one new tune you like!

Also... I just hit 100 followers!! I am so thrilled! I started blogging purely for myself. Then I really got into it for networking purposes and to make new "blog friends", but never did I think I'd get lots of followers- let alone 100! So thank you all, I am so appreciative of each of you. I will try my best to be better in commenting and visiting all of your blogs! My next big milestone is 150- maybe I'll do a giveaway at that point?! Maybe some fun jewelry!? :)

Since I will be out of town for the day, I won't get to put up a post tomorrow, but I just wanted to let you all know that tomorrow (Saturday) I am being featured on Crystal's blog at According to Crystal as a guest blogger! I am so honored and hope you'll hop on over to her blog on Saturday and see what budget-friendly styles I'm loving this spring!

It's Friday, I'm listening to my playlist, the breeze is blowing through my open window, and the warm sun shining- I am happy as a clam! Hope all of you have a most wonderful weekend! :)

ACM's adventures in Italia!

If you've been keeping up, you know my sweet boyfriend, ACM, has hopped across the pond and is spending the spring semester studying architecture in Genoa, Italy. I am completely jealous and living vicariously through him as he updates me through FaceTime, WhatsApp messages, Facebook chats, and Skype sessions. His group has taken many day trips- from Rome to Siena to Florence! Just thought I'd share a few pictures from his adventures all over!

Though we won't be together this Valentine's day, he gave me an advance present before he left- tickets to see Foster the People in June when he gets home! I am so excited! I sent him a care package last week, so hopefully he will get it soon! I can't tell what I sent, though... I don't even know if ACM reads this, but I'm not risking it!

Apparently he and his buddies went shopping at H &M to get some more European style clothes- Italians tend to look down upon Chacos and shorts... go figure! This is their "Entourage" picture, haha! (He's second from the left!)

And this is him at H & M... trying on skinny jeans?! No, he didn't buy them. And let's hope he sticks to architecture, I'm not so sure he has a career in modeling!

This is the group in Siena- apparently it has been freezing... look at that beautiful snow!

Not sure where this is, but it looks like a hobbit door to me! PS- How cute is he?!

Here he is with some of the girls at the Colosseum in Rome! I've only met a few of them, but apparently they alllllll want to meet me... eeek! He's like a brother to them so I guess it's good they want to know me, too!

ACM went on a weekend trip to France with his friends Doug and Katie- He and Doug thought they could buy some new clothes and shave everything but their moustaches to look French while wandering around Nice... If he could grow facial hair, that is ;) What a sassy pose!

So, even though my Valentine is allllll the way across the world and I'm missing him terribly, I'm so happy he is having wonderful adventures! I just remember that each morning is one day closer, and I'm so excited to see him in May! Only 84 more days, but who's counting? :)

What boyfriends have taught me.

So, ladies, it is upon us. Love it or hate it, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. You can argue that it's cheesy, it's a commercial holiday created by Hallmark, that you should celebrate your love every day, blah blah blah, but February 14th will still hit you in the face, plastered in pink and red hearts. I apologize for my blog absence, I've been busy and kind of lacking in inspiration, but I decided to do a few Valentine's Day/romance inspired posts in honor of this holiday!

So, I've only dated two guys in my life, and my current loverboy Andrew has been around for over four years, and he has taught me so much. Nonetheless, anyone (actual boyfriend or mere crush) in the past is still an important part of my life and I feel the need to mention them as well. For your amusement (please don't laugh... I was merely a high school sophomore), here is a picture of me with my first real beau:

the beginning, and end, of my pageant career, friends.
Ahhh! So little, right? So, without further ado, I now present (some serious, some silly)....

"What My Boyfriends Have Taught Me"
  1. You can still be friends. Sometimes things don't work out. You don't know what you want, you don't know how the HECK to have a boyfriend, but you still enjoy a person's company. I know that many disagree, but I firmly believe you can still be friends. I have been lucky that my only breakup was on good terms, and it turns out my ex, though we have grown apart, shares some of the same interests I do and has been a good reference for advice and he is truly a nice person.
  2. Got a crazy idea? Just do it. You'll be okay. For example, the pageant in the above picture. I had never done one before, but I was strongly encouraged by friends. Even Brewer told me to do it, and was really sweet about it. And Andrew? Going to separate colleges is tough. It seemed crazy. But in a totally unselfish way, he encouraged me to just go with my heart. And things are great!
  3. Mellow Mushroom and ice cream makes for a great first date. But seriously, both of my first dates were there. Which I personally think is kind of funny.
  4. You have to accept what is best for both of you. Even if you don't know it yet. Yeah, breakups suck. I was broken up with. But even if I didn't want to face it, it's what was best. And because of it, I have learned a lot and God gave me a wonderful guy who is the best thing that's happened to me! And I've had to accept that it's best for Andrew to be abroad now. He gets an amazing travel and learning opportunity, and I get time to myself at school to focus on school, ZTA, family, and everything I ever had "time" to do. It all works out!
  5. I'm into architects. Brewer always wanted to be one, but ended up going on a different path when he found his calling in medicine. Andrew is rocking out in his 3rd year in the architecture program. Ain't it ironic?
  6. Don't be afraid to talk about your faith. It makes your relationship stronger. No matter how "new" your relationship is.
  7. It's the little things that mean the most. A note in the textbook I let you borrow. Flowers after I completed my first sorority fundraiser without a mental breakdown. Buying me a Starbucks on a bad day. Even the smallest gestures can make you the happiest!
  8. Always write how you feel. Email, note, journal, whatever. You will look back at fond memories.
I'm sure I have learned a lot more I don't even realize! Not all relationships last, but you definitely learn from them. And if you're lucky enough to be in one now, you learn something new about yourself, your capabilities, and your strength daily. Here's my shoutout to my Valentine who is all the way across the ocean!

I miss him! I can't wait for our Valentine's Skype date!

Semester goals!

So now that my wonderful Interim adventures over, it's back to reality and back to the campus grind. I know I'm kind of behind, but I just wanted to share with you all some of my semester goals- maybe you guys can keep me accountable!

Create a regular exercise routine. Related: Run a 5K!
I am ashamed to say that i haven't exercised regularly since this summer- eek! I have started to consistently run and lift since coming back to school and I am definitely feeling it! My goal is to be able to run the 5K another sorority holds yearly. Who knows- maybe I'll make it to a 10K!

Good enough for me! [via pinterest]
Get published in the campus newspaper
I have just joined the staff of the Old Gold and Black, our campus newspaper! I haven't done journalism since middle school but I'm excited to get a byline!

[via pinterest]

 Make a 4.0
It's possible! I made a 4.0 last spring semester, and I would love to do it again! I am so glad because I am only taking four classes this semester, so hopefully this is doable!

Let's hope I can disprove this. [via pinterest]
Get a plan for Bible study and stick to it.
I found this method somewhere in the blogosphere and it sounds great! I don't have class until 10:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so I'm able to get up at a decent time and do a small bible study. Also, I'm reading "The Reason for God" right now... I highly recommend it!

Work on my photography
With Andrew gone and less classes, this is my opportunity! My friend Parkes gave me permission to photograph her and her boyfriend and I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty pumped. I'd love to practice my portraiture. I would love to take some classes and do some photo challenges with my fellow photography friends! Also, I want to learn how to use film... it fascinates me.

Ready, set... go!

Top 5 Tuesday: My most worn!

I'm excited to link up with my blog friend (and fellow ZTA sister!) Rachel at Just Peachy for the first time ever! I have been a slacker with blogging lately because yesterday was my first day of class and I have been busy applying for internships, getting ready for school, unpacking, and juggling lots of ZTA meetings! But enough excuses! Here's my top 5 for this week:

{1} Michael Kors bone watch- This is a staple for my wardrobe- I love it because I can wear it easily with gold or silver jewelry (or a combo of both!). It has held up well and still looks great after about two years!
{2} White gold pearl ring- I received this ring as a joint graduation and 18th birthday gift! I wear it everyday on my left ring finger as a promise ring and could not be more obsessed with it. It's so simple and classic- I may have to make it into a necklace whenever I get married so I can still wear it!
{3} Scarves- I literally have a Rubbermaid bin of scarves under my bed at school- it's an obsession. I have a million colors and prints, but I would love to add this sassy animal print to my collection! But I still don't have an infinity scarf and I would love to have one! Where do you get yours?!
{4} Burt's Bees Lip Tint- I keep this in my school ID wristlet and apply it all the time! My lips get chapped on the reg and I can't stand the feeling of "naked" lips- this rose color solves all my problems!
{5} J. Crew Matchstick jeans- I have invested in a few pairs of these from the outlets and could not be happier with them! They look great when rolled up once or down regularly. The only thing I don't like? The waist doesn't fit perfectly (which may be attributed to the massive donk all women in my family have) and I find myself pulling them up a lot (cute, right?). I discovered an easy fix- just take them to the tailor! They fit perfectly now!

This was such a fun top 5! Hopefully I'll be on the ball and do these more often! Thanks, Rachel!

"I want it to rain so I can wear my rainboots!"

That is my favorite part of the newly popular YouTube video (title edited) "Stuff Sorority Girls Say". Not much of that video actually applies to my lifestyle, but I do love my rainboots. This year I became the proud owner of a pair of Wellies... of course, Hunters!

source: Google images
Are they not beautiful?! I had the hardest time deciding what color to get. I love the bright colors (especially for dreary days!) but I didn't want to get sick of a vibrant color. Lots of girls on campus have dark green, back, and grey, so I wanted a little something different. So I settled on this cranberry color- classic, but a color I had never seen before! Plus they look great with my green raincoat- but my friends jokingly call me Barney (as in the dinosaur) when I wear the color combo.

via piperlime.com
I took a look at them today and realized my wellies were looking ROUGH. Like, real bad. When you pay that much for rainboots, it's silly to let them look that bad. Mine had white splotches all over them, which according to this article, is a waxy residue infused in the natural rubber the boots are made of. It actually protects your boots but makes them look horrible. So I decided to give my boots some TLC!

See? These babies looked bad. I heard from a friend a good way to at least temporarily get rid of the white "bloom" as it is called, and I wanted to share! It's super easy, and I feel like doing a step by step may even be unnecessary for something so basic, but it's just the best way to explain!
  1. Take a slightly damp cloth and wipe down your wellies. After a good rub down, they look considerably better, but continue!
  2. Thoroughly dry your wellies- air dry or with another wash cloth
  3. Use some sort of vegetable oil or olive oil (you can see what I used) and use a washcloth to apply a dime-sized spot and rub it all over. I used one dime sized spot for each boot.
  4. Let your wellies sit (and keep away from the dog... Roxi tried to get a few licks in!)
  5. Enjoy the shine! They look great!

WAY too easy, right? They look great and I'm glad I found a quick fix for my splotchy boots! Hope this comes in handy to you at some point!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Here's what I'm loving this Wednesday!

I'm loving these Bean Boots! oh my gah I want some so bad. I may just have to indulge myself.
via
I'm loving that my first internship interview went well today! I am interviewing with two public relations firms and I felt really good about my interview today! One more tomorrow!

I'm loving wearing wearing cozy clothes- especially my favorite flamingo slippers! As soon as I slipped out of my pantyhose and heels after my interview, I threw on my JCrew sweatpants, favorite comfort colors tshirt, and these babies! They are well loved but just so precious!

I'm loving Instagram and Diptic! (if you can't tell from my above picture!) Instagram has always been my fav, but I just discovered Diptic that lets you make these sweet collages- so fun! I'm doing a photo-a-day challenge for February, so follow me on Instagram if you want! My name is ryannkroske!

I'm loving Whatsapp! As you all probably know, Andrew is studying abroad in Italy and with the time difference and crazy costs of texting and calling internationally, communication is harder! We've been using the Whatsapp messaging application since Andrew can use it when connected to wifi! It has made long distance a lot easier! :)

I'm loving that Toms has BALLET FLATS now! (Can you tell I love shoes?!) I really want to order some... if they are as comfy as the regular Toms, goodness knows I will be investing!!

What a lovely Wednesday! What are you loving?!

Australia/NZ Adventures... Part II!

Dunedin, NZ
Dunedin was quite different than Stewart Island- a city for college students! We didn't see many, since they were on holiday, but it was nice having lots of things to do and places to eat. We toured Speight's brewery, which is a famous brand of beer here in New Zealand. We ate some awesome meals in this area downtown called the Octagon. One day we drove to a marine science center where we spent time exploring the shoreline, visiting a small aquarium, and learning about sea life off the NZ coast. We also stopped by this place called Penguin Place (we called it Penguin Palace!) where we observed wild yellow eyed penguin chicks in their natural habitat!
Exploring on the shore.. I can't believe I actually touched that thing.

Penguin chick... it's so fuzzy!

Quick stop at Baldwin Street... the steepest street in the world, apparently!

Akaroa, NZ
On the way to this cute, French-inspired seaside town we stopped at the Moeraki boulders, which are perfectly rounded and actually really beautiful! We had a fun time exploring the town and shopping in the quaint stores and beautiful little art shops. We ate at the most famous fish and chips place in NZ that apparently catches their blue cod the same day they cook it- talk about fresh!
How beautiful is that sky?!
ZTAs at the Moeraki Boulders!
Akaroa- a beautiful town by the sea!

Kaikoura, NZ
On the way to our last stop in NZ, we stopped at a local farm to watch a sheep herding demonstration as well as a sheep shearing demonstration! The next day we went on a whale watching tour where we saw sperm whales in the Pacific Ocean. Apparently Kaikoura is one of the best places in the world to see whales this time of year. It was cold and windy, and you had to be patient, but it was so amazing being able to see the whales! That night I had the most amazing dinner I had the whole trip- fresh, delicious scallops! Yum! Our last full day was one of the best. We went on a dolphin encounter where we took a boat out into the open ocean to swim (outfitted in wetsuits, masks, snorkels, flippers, the works!) with WILD dusty dolphins! We were so lucky because this "pod" of dolphins was very interested in our group.. I had dolphins swimming under and all around me- it was the coolest thing ever! After freshening up we walked around the town in the warm sunlight and explored the beach before our last dinner!

down on the farm with Martha!
Our whole group at the farm- in the middle is the owner and one of his herding dogs!

Windy and cold whalewatching!
Well hello, sperm whale!
I swam with these wild dusty dolphins!

Exploring Kaikoura!
I had an amazing time, and I am so blessed to have gone! It was an experience of a lifetime and I hope that I can go back one day- I would recommend both Australia and New Zealand to ANYONE! Both countries are so beautiful and it is definitely worth the trip. I am still jet lagged, exhausted, and trying to unpack, but I am enjoying my break until the spring semester starts next Monday! Thank you for all your support and I'm excited to get back in to the blogging groove soon!

I'll leave you with this silly picture...

THANK GOODNESS I checked my FURBY in my luggage! hehe
