"he's here!" {a Christmas story}

What a joy it is to view the Christmas story through the eyes of a child but with a more full understanding of the blessings of the season!

I am in love with this wonderfully made and beautifully narrated video from the Jesus Storybook Bible. Last year I did an RUF Bible study with this book. It is a compilation of stories from both the Old and New Testament, beautifully illustrated and told in a magic way that is easily understood by young believers but speaks volumes to even those who have told the story a million times. The lines are truly lyrical, and "every story whispers his name."  I enjoy reading stories in my scripture study then referring back to my Jesus Storybook Bible to understand it in a whole new way!

I've been hit hard this holiday season with lots of prayer concerns-- I've had family friends with reoccuring cancer, family dealing with addiction and major health concerns, a nation rocked by the Sandy Hook shootings, and the realization of a world that needs the loving arms of God more than ever. As I reflect upon this sadness, grief, and hardship, I am humbled by the story of the arrival of our Savior. As promised, sweet baby Jesus was brought to us in overwhelming darkness that night to bring joy, hope, and wholeness to our sad and hurting world. That's what this time of year is about-- JOY-- and the remembrance of a God who loves us enough to send Jesus, Emmanuel, to walk among us and experience our pain one hundred fold as he was crucified to save us from our many sins. We are so unworthy and yet so loved at the same time. This year has been a wonderful one for me in spiritual growth, and as I put myself in Mary's shoes, I realize that it is necessary to, as the video says, "trust God more than [our] eyes can see"!

Wishing you and your family the most joyful of seasons with the remembrance of the love of Christ and the many blessings we are given!

Merry Christmas, my friends!

follow friday- wedding blogs!

If it isn't obvious, one of my favorite things to do is peruse blogs. Name a type of blog, I can probably list of my favorites under that category- lifestyle, fashion, cooking, etc... it might be YOUR blog! :) However, my most favorite blogs are wedding blogs. Even before it came my time to begin planning and pulling inspiration, I have loved perusing these sites not just for ideas, but to admire the beauty and detail that goes into planning that special day. Here are some of my favorites I wanted to share with y'all, in no particular order:

Style Me Pretty
Style Me Pretty is basically wedding GOLD. The blog features endless photographs of those gorgeous "artsy" weddings that you have dreamed of since you thought boys didn't have cooties and a separate "gallery and inspiration" page that is sort of it's own Pinterest page, where you can favorite images to refer to later. Speaking of Pinterest, if you're not as good with blogs and prefer to follow boards, I could peruse the Style Me Pretty Pinterest page for hours-- they have tons of beautiful inspiration organized wonderfully into categories such as "Make Up and Jewelry," "First Look," "Color Inspiration" and so much more.

Southern Weddings Magazine
The Southern Weddings Magazine blog is my most recent discovery. Their blog is just as great, featuring distinctly Southern weddings (seriously, to submit a wedding there are geographical constraints!) any girl would swoon over. In addition to just weddings, they also feature giveaways, promotions, and highlights of the fun events held by Southern Weddings Magazine-- for example, ornament swap and a gingerbread barn building-- how AWESOME would it be to work for a mag like this?!

Glamour & Grace
Glamour and Grace blog not only features beautifully unique and modern weddings, but also the most fun and precious engagement shoots and special posts on inspiration for everything from the bouquet to the perfect palette. All images are easily "pinnable" in order to make each post an effortless addition to that wedding pinboard you've been unashamedly filling up since day 1 on Pinterest.

~~~~~~
These are only a few of my favorites-- do you have any others I need to add to my bookmark bar?! Seriously, what did we do for inspiration before social media? What a wonderful thing. Happy Friday my friends!
continued prayers for newtown
Please join me and other bloggers for a special day of silence for the Newtown, CT tragedy.
In overwhelming darkness, there is hope in a victorious light.
Praying for peace that surpasses earthly understanding for all affected by this tragedy.
unspeakable joy{ful}! holiday gift guide
Who's done with Christmas shopping?
Anyone? If so, congratulations... you are superwoman. I am pretty far ahead from my usual gift-purchasing progress, but I have a long way to go! Sometimes it's hard to figure out what to buy the mom, best friend, or mother-in-law that has it all, you know what I mean? I have compiled a gift guide of some things that I'm loving that would make unique gifts with a little twist. I might even put a few on my Christmas list!
{1}
"Swanky, southern, and sophisticated," this Nico & Lala Zebra catch all tray is the perfect place to set your jewels at the end of the day! You can personalize it and even change out the inserts to suit your fancy!
{2}
I received this little pretty as an engagement gift from my Little and I love it enough to want to gift it as well! These days it's hard to get one moment in the day to collect your thoughts, but this One Line a Day journal has lines for every day of the year for 5 years that you can jot down the significant (or even the insignificant!) things that have happened daily. Looking back would be the most fun!
{3}
These Swell Caroline Paris earrings are a convincing nod to every girl's favorite guy- David Yurman! Available in a variation of colored stones, these earrings will suit any of your fashion-conscious friends.
{4}
The perfect gift for your best friend going abroad for the semester or your cousin planning her island honeymoon is this precious and preppy passport holder. With a gift guide of her own categorized by price, you can't go wrong with the bright colors and bold prints of Kate Spade
{5}
Who doesn't love a Tervis? I'm in love with the new water bottles, and one of my favorite bloggers, Crystal, has recently opened her own online boutique where she can personalize this beauty so you look great even when you're sweating it out at the gym!
So, what do you think? Adding any of these goodies to your Christmas list?
decking the (hypothetical) halls
'Tis the season for cookie making, blaring Christmas tunes everywhere you go, and taking in the fresh scent of evergreen... however, I have to wait until my exams are over on Friday to enjoy being home for the holidays. Good things come to those who wait I guess!
My apartment at school has random decorations that make us merry and bright amidst our finals misery, for example: a pink Christmas tree (yes, it is awesome), wreaths, various stockings hanging on our entertainment center, string letter lights spelling "CHRISTMAZ" (no repeating letters, haha!) and a Bieber cutout decked out like the halls. Not the type of Christmas decor I usually go for, but the eclectic mix suits our apartment swimmingly and brings a smile to my face always!
take it all in, ladies and gentlemen.
However, amidst school duties I have had to simultaneously begin wedding planning. Next big thing to check off the list: wedding registry! Thinking about the things that Andrew and I will need (or want, haha) for our future home/apartment/condo/townhouse is a little daunting, but so exciting. So, naturally, I have not only been thinking about the necessities for our home, but I have fast-forwarded myself to dreaming of our future Christmas decor with these Pinterest pretties:
I'm not a big fan of the commercialized Christmas-- Santa, snowmen, etc. As you can see, I'm especially drawn to distinctly Southern, classic, and natural decor! However, a splash of color is always welcome- how about that fabulous, colorfully Southern Living inspired tree?
How would you love to deck your halls in your home?!
